Dr. Tony Kang, DMD
Dr. Tony Kang was born in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. He moved to Alabama at a young age with his mother and younger sister to begin a new life in America. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering and graduate studies in Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). During his time at the University, he fell in love with his wife, Down, who is an operating room nurse and shares his passion for helping those in need. In addition, it was at UAB that he met his surgeon-mentors Drs. McKenzie, McLaughlin and DiLuzio, without whom this Massachusetts clinic would not be possible.
Dr. Kang pursued his dream of becoming an oral/maxillofacial surgeon at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center by completing a four-year training program in oral/maxillofacial surgery, medicine, and anesthesia, including a pediatric anesthesia rotation at the distinguished Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. While training, he had the opportunity to travel to Bangalore, India, to assist the senior surgeons in the treatment of children born with cleft lips and/or palates.
Dr. Kang enjoys practicing the contemporary scope of oral/maxillofacial surgery with a special interest in outpatient anesthesia and maxillofacial trauma. Dr. Kang is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a member of American Dental Association.
Outside of work, Dr. Kang devotes his time to his family: wife (Down), daughter (Olivia) and son (Teddy). While not at home or work, Dr. Kang focuses on providing support to local boxing gyms to aid in youth development and growth.
